BEST POEM OF THE MONTH CORNER

With A Sigh

By Harley Sutton

Did serendipity create a casual meeting
At theatrical event to arrange a greeting?
For 'twas there I first with my eyes beheld
She that with cupid's arrow my heart impaled.

As La Boheme lilted through its presentation
and I vainly attempted to decipher its derivation,
my eyes became transfixed upon a lovely vision;
Sending me deep within the valley of indecision.

Dare such as I approach Helen of Troy defined.
Had I properly her glancing look at me divined.
Was it incumbent upon a gentleman to defeat
The ocean of desire now lapping at my feet?

Music drew to a close as the buxom lady sang,
Ending not with a whimper, but a decided bang.
Curtain fell, audience murmuring in dispersal
As if choreographed in well designed rehearsal.

Fan slightly hiding face, she turned my way.

My mind racing, if she spoke, what would I say?
Maybe remain stoic, stiff, stolid and transfixed
Or follow the path my thoughts or heart predicts.

Her entourage proceeded forth and swept on by.
As they paraded past my station, I exhaled a sigh,
And did as I have done countless times before.
I watched in silent awe as love walked out the door…

PUBLISHER’S CORNER

By Rosanne Catalano

WELCOME to our many new subscribers! You joined at an exciting time, for this is our Valentine’s Day Special Edition. And it’s filled with heartfelt poetry, stories and helpful articles on what to do and what to give a loved one for this holiday celebrated by lovers…

I also have good news to share. But before I tell you my news, I need to say “funny, how things turn out different than we plan. My novel-in-progress I spoke of in last month’s issue has finally been published through Lulu Press! But it’s not the ‘novel’ I planned it to be. Instead, “Mirrored Images [1]” is a collection of my short stories and some poems that I have written; some fact, some fiction. But in spite of it not being a novel per se, I’m happy that my second book is now published and available to purchase for your reading pleasure!” My book is officially dedicated to my late dad, but ‘unofficially’ it is also dedicated to my mom; for they both encouraged my love of writing! You can purchase “Mirrored Images [1]” at this site’s Home Page! Also, do read the press release in our Off The Press! column [below]! And I promise my 3rd book will definitely be a novel. It will also be titled Mirrored Images but it will be Mirrored Images [2]; a continuation of [1].

Enjoy my latest book!

Btw, I spoke too soon about the balmy weather we were having in New York last month…it is now freezing cold in the north and we’ve already had our first snowfall of the year. Oh well, at least for most of last month we had the remnants of summer weather; it was great being able to wear t-shirts and shorts in the month of January! Now that the snow and freezing cold has once again arrived, we can say that it’s officially winter now.

Along with inviting you to read my book, “Mirrored Images [1]”, again I also invite you to read “Wt~In Spirit,” a print [hard copy] Christian Literary magazine, which launched its first issue on December 15th, 2006! The next issue of “Wt~In Spirit” is February 15th, 2007! Wt~In Spirit is a beautifully inspirational print magazine with MY COLUMN, Scripture Understood, AND OTHER AUTHOR’S COLUMNS published in it!  And for only $25.00 a year you will receive 6 issues [remember it’s a bi-monthly magazine] of Wt~In Spirit by subscribing at inspirit@wynter.ca ($50 for two years; in previous issues I had it wrong, sorry that I stink at math!)

Now I’d like to CONGRATULATE HARLEY SUTTON for his wonderfully heartfelt poem “With A Sigh” being chosen as BEST POEM OF THE MONTH! To read Harley’s excellent poem again and a second poem titled “Musings”, go to our Coffee House 4 Poets & Writers Corner [below]!

IF YOU ARE A FREELANCE WRITER:  definitely do read the Queen Bee of Filbert Publishing Beth Ann Erickson’s eBook, “101 No Cost or Low Cost Techniques to Turbo Charge Your Freelance Income”! Go to http://rckayla.filbertpub.hop.clickbank.net to pick up your copy of Beth’s eBook today so that you’ll never have to write for nothing ever again! Also do check out our ‘Helpful Links’ Page for other web sites that may interest you. There’s enough variety to please everyone on that page!

For those who do not have children, are trying to have children, or have accepted that they will never have children of their own but still need emotional support in coming to that decision, I’d like to tell you again of a fantastic web site called “Childless Not By Choice”!  I wrote all about this supportive web site on my blog in May 2006. And I still highly recommend the site! So, definitely do check out their web site at www.childlessnotbychoice.com!  It costs nothing to join this wonderfully supportive group and forum. They understand and want you to know that you are not alone. I have already posted on “Childless Not By Choice” six times so far, and feel sooo warm, accepted and loved while on their site. If you’re trying to conceive, going through fertility treatments and all that’s involved with infertility, or have already arrived at accepting the fact that having children was not meant to be; that God had other plans for our lives… you’ll want to check out “Childless Not By Choice’s” web site and forum. I promise you will want to stay in the warm cocoon of support, love and acceptance “Childless Not By Choice” members offer those without children. I love it there!

Thank you to those who have written in to us!

We love hearing from you, so please keep those emails coming to The Publisher's Box™! Below is another email we received from a subscriber who is also a sometime-contributor, and is the reason we continue to publish this magazine…

Hi, I just read a good part of the latest issue of The Cat's Meow for Writers & Readers Ezine.

I will read it all, but I wanted to comment on how well it is put together and how much I enjoyed what I read so far!

Thanks,

Brian

See you all next month. Till then, Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!
