Hello dear
readers, and welcome to all our new members!
This month you will notice
that we now have links in our table of contents (above) so that you can go
directly to where you would like rather than having to scroll all the way down!
Plus, we’ve moved some of our columns around. This way you can read want you
really want without having to read what you don’t want to in this magazine.
But, please be patient with us as we continue to work on the linking and
getting out any kinks that shouldn’t be there. Thanks, and we hope to bring a
much more enjoyable reading experience to you!
Also,
thank you to those who have supported us! I want to say that with the warmer weather and beach
days approaching, Wt~In Spirit magazine is conveniently handy to
carry and read while lounging at the pool or beach. And that’s why I can’t
think of a better birthday present – yep, it’s my birthday this month! – Than
you subscribing to this awesomely inspirational Christian magazine! Although
June is considered a great month for weddings and Father’s Day events, it also
happens to be my forty-ninth birthday.
So, why not continue to support our work by taking a
look-see at Wt~In Spirit to read my column, Scripture Understood?! And also
the inspirational columns, stories and poetry of other excellent writers –
Karin Lacroix (founder & publisher of Wt~In Spirit), Carol Roach (publisher of Storytime Tapestry ezine), Trisha
Martin (author of “My Naked Mind: An
Intimate Collection of Poetry”), Rev. Karl Kessler (a pastor); – to name just a few…
I’m sorry though that Wt~In Spirit is a print-only
magazine and cannot be read online, but you can order a year’s worth of
awe-inspiring and heartfelt poetry, stories and columns by subscribing at: inspirit@wynter.ca
(just write on the blank email that you are interested in a
one-year-subscription to Wt~In Spirit magazine)! For only $25.00 a year you would receive 6 issues [it’s a
bi-monthly magazine] of Wt~In
Spirit ($50 for two
years). Thank you, what a
wonderful 49th birthday present to me this would be!

Beauty
in the Beast
By Bryon H. Howell
I wouldn’t let you stop my ruthless flow
you’d know too well how angry I would be
My domineering ways were such the show
I didn’t think you’d like a subtle me.
I’d rather make you think that I was cruel
Than wear my weary heart upon my sleeve
When I was at my best I was a fool –
I’d let you down and leave you there to grieve.
Once I accepted I was sweet inside
My life became much easier to live
The real me is much too nice to hide –
a caring soul with so much love to give.
Today, I’d rather be a humble guy
than some wild beast who makes his loved ones cry.

COFFEE HOUSE 4 POETS & WRITERS! (Bringing
You Published Written Talent Every Month For YOUR
Novel Experience
By Joan Skura
Well, I’m here, although
I think I’d rather be almost anywhere than sitting on this rock-hard bench,
bleacher, whatever it’s called. But June can be very persuasive.
“Come on, Helen, it’s a
beautiful evening. It’ll be fun and it’s only two forty-minute halves.”
“Okay,” I’d shrugged.
“You know I’ve never been into sports, but it’ll be a new experience I guess.”
These last few years have
been a series of novel experiences, beginning with Ted’s sudden realization
that he’d wasted his life in teaching, not to mention our marriage, and said he
needed to find himself. To do that,
it was necessary for him to travel three thousand miles to an island off the
west coast, buy a rundown cabin and gaze out over the Pacific. But I’ve moved
on.
Five minutes to game time
and the teams are clustered on the sideline. The blue-shirted group has more
players than the red, but I see two more reds bounding across the field,
ponytails flying, before landing on the grass beside their cohorts. Another
red-clad player catapults from a car in the parking lot behind us and a cheer
goes up from her teammates.
“Which one is Rebecca?” I
haven’t seen June’s granddaughter since she was ten (the same year Ted decamped
and I moved up north to devote myself to writing full-time); she’s fourteen now.
“The one with the long,
blonde ponytail,” June nods toward the blues.
I look at the group, then
at June, trying not to laugh. “Uh…Junie, there are at least eight who fit that
description.”
“Sorry,” she chuckles.
“She’s wearing number fifteen.”
Both groups are on their
feet now and I see that Rebecca, once considered small for her age, has grown
tall and slender.
